What is
Sexual Violence?
Sexual violence is any type of unwanted sexual conduct that occurs without consent. A person consents to a sexual act by agreeing to it freely and willingly without being forced or coerced.
Who Can Be a Target?
Sexual violence can happen to anyone – it does not discriminate based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, class, education, ability status, legal status, etc.
Recognize it
Sexual violence can happen in many different ways, including:
- Rape
- Made to penetrate
- Unwanted sexual touching
- Sexual exploitation and sex trafficking
- Sexual harassment
- Stalking
- Sexual coercion
